2008 Award Categories

Judging for all 12 Award Categories is extremely thorough and will be carried out by our judging panel of industry experts following the closing date. All nominations should be submitted by 5.00PM ON FRIDAY 11th JANUARY 2008.

Shorlisted entries will be published on this website in the week commencing 11th February 2008. All awards will be presented at the Scottish Recruitments Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner on Thursday 6th March.

Who can enter?
We have created specific awards to represent:-

  • Recruiters  employed by recruitment agencies
  • Recruiters employed in a recruitment focussed role within industry (non-recruitment agency)
  • Temporary workers contracted to work for agencies
  • Recruitment professionals working for organisations outwith the recruitment agency sector

Please see the description of each category to determine relevant categories for your nomination.

What is required?
Nominations should be submitted under the following categories and applicants may nominate their business in more than one category.  A separate application form (photocopies will be accepted) should be used for each entry. On receipt of nomination a questionnaire will be issued to the nominee for completion. Applicants will also be able to submit supporting material where appropriate. Applicants must demonstrate how they have applied their sector knowledge, creativity and industry know-how to develop innovative strategies which have contributed to the growth of their individual businesses, whilst demonstrating the best that the Scottish recruitment sector has to offer.

Category One
Recruitment Consultant of the Year (Temporary Recruitment)
Best performing recruitment consultant who specialises in placing temporary and contract staff. Nominations for this category may come from clients and candidates. Must have over 18 months experience.
The judges will be looking for:
The number of temporary and contract placements that have been made over a 12 month period.
Quality of service given to clients and the temporary/contract workers.

Category Two
Recruitment Consultant of the Year (Permanent Recruitment)
Best performing recruitment consultant who specialises in placing permanent staff. Nominations for this category may come from clients and candidates. Must have over 18 months experience. Same criteria applies as above.

Category Three
Recruitment Team of the Year
Best performing recruitment agency team who work well together and take collective responsibility in the job at hand. The team should be a group of consultants managed by one manager and can be industry specific or client specific.
The judges will be looking for:
An outline of what the team structure is.
How does the team share ideas/resources?
How has the team impacted on the company’s business results?
How does the team communicate and co-ordinate to ensure that goals are achieved successfully?

Category Four
Newcomer Consultant of the Year
Best performing newcomer (less than 18 months experience) who specialises in recruiting either temporary or permanent staff.
The judges will be looking for:
The number of temporary or contract placements that have been made over a 12 month period.
Quality of service given to clients and the temporary/permanent workers.

Category Five
Most Successful Newcomer Agency
The best performing agency that have been operating less than 18 months.
The judges will be looking for:
The number of placements made since the company began trading.
Total turnover of the company for 2007.
How many registered clients the agency has.
A list of testimonials from clients and candidates in relations to the quality of service delivered.

Category Six
Small/Medium Recruitment Agency of the Year
The best performing Scottish owned independent agency with a minimum trading period of two years. Owners must be resident in Scotland and the head office must be registered in Scotland.
The judges will be looking for:
Total turnover for 2007.
Number of placements made in 2007.
Strategies in place to stimulate growth.
A list of testimonials from clients and candidates in relation to the quality of service delivered.

Category Seven
Large Recruitment Agency of the Year
This applies to organisations that have over 50 staff based in Scotland and offices based outside Scotland. Companies must have a minimum trading period of two years. This can include both plc’s and worldwide organisations.
The judges will be looking for:
Total turnover for 2007.
Number of placements made in 2007.
Strategies in place to stimulate growth.
A list of testimonials from clients and candidates in relation to the quality of service delivered.

Category Eight
Recruitment Manager of the Year
This category only applies to managers working within a recruitment agency.
The judges will be looking for:
A service driven manager with a good client understanding.
A manager who achieves a high level of performance within their sector.
Clear evidence of how the Manager motivated their team

Category Nine
Industry Recruiter of the Year
This includes recruiters at all levels working within a non-recruitment agency organisation.
The judges will be looking for:
How recruitment and retention issues are solved.
How recruitment campaigns are designed.
Performance on volume recruitment campaigns.

Category Ten
Best Practice in Recruitment
This category includes agency as well as non-agency entrants. The companies must also be seen to be proactively recruiting workers with disabilities.
The judges will be looking for:
How the company proactively addresses recruitment issues, such as cultural diversity.

Category Eleven
Best Recruitment Campaign
This category is open to both agency and non-agency companies. It covers advertising and other creative means of attracting candidates.
The judges will be looking for:
Eye catching designs which have individuality.
Campaigns which sell the roles to the readers.
The campaign should meet all the necessary legal standards including being non-discriminatory.

Category Twelve
Back Office Support Team
This category is open to non fee-generating teams in agency or non-agency organisations, eg, web design, advertising and candidate management. The award is for people who support the recruiters in carrying out successful placements.

The judges will be looking for:
What is the team structure?
How does the team share ideas/resources?
How has the team impacted on the company’s business results?
How does the team communicate to ensure that goals are achieved?
